Since the advent of high-definition TV, it’s super easy for viewers at home to see flaws and blemishes on celebrity skin.
High-def is changing the face of skincare. Kate Walsh talked about it in an interview recently with TV Guide. Her skin is gorgeous, and she works to keep it that way.
Do you have any tips or tricks you use to get your clients’ skin in tip-top shape? Yes. In terms of blemishes, no picking. That will not make the blemish go away any faster, plus it puts you at risk for scarring. Also, regular facials about once a month keep pores clear and breakouts at bay. To prevent breakouts, my clients use my antibacterial moisturizer and Clearing Mask the week they are going to get their cycle, to kill bacteria and keep skin clear.
Some of my clients are the most photographed faces in Hollywood. They come to me because they know I offer the most advanced treatments and products for their skin. In addition to a good skincare regimen, amazing laser technology offers less-invasive ways to tighten and smooth the skin with very little downtime. For example, a laser treatment called Titan is really popular. Infrared light heats the lower layer of the dermis and stimulates collagen, while the surface of the skin stays cool and comfortable. Titan is great for tightening the skin on the face, neck, stomach, arms, and thighs—in less time than it takes to get a pedicure. It is relatively painless, and there is no downtime.
We are doing a new treatment called the Pearl, which does require a few days of downtime. But the result is so pretty! A warm laser gently ablates the surface of the skin to rid the skin of fine lines, brown spots, and irregular texture. We are loving the result. After just a few days, skin is nice and smooth.
Also soon we are going to be launching an incredible treatment for stretch marks—for all skin types! So be on the lookout for that.
Which stars do you think looked amazing on the red carpet at the 2008 Oscars?
The actress from
La Vie en Rose, Marion Cotillard. Her skin looked gorgeous. Cate Blanchett. She is so elegant yet approachable. Katherine Heigl—her smile lights up a room. George Clooney looked pretty amazing as well.
Do you have any tips for at-home facials?Steam the skin using a warm washcloth. This will open the pores. Once the skin is softened, exfoliate using an oatmeal scrub or a product with natural enzymes. I love my ExfoliKate—it has papaya and pineapple that gently dissolve the dead skin cells and microbeads that lift them and pore-clogging debris away. If you must extract, wrap tissue around both pointer and middle fingers and gently, gently squeeze. Do not force anything. If it’s not ready, don’t do it. After this, tone the skin to kill bacteria—you can use a diluted witch hazel for this. Finally, if skin is acne-prone, put on a mud mask or even a homemade mask of brewer’s yeast. This will tighten skin and dehydrate the acne. If skin is dry, use a moisturizing mask with azulene extracts or make your own. I love to blend ripe avocado and massage it into my skin. The natural fats rehydrate skin and help to set the pH balance. Afterward, I’d finish with a treatment serum that contains hyaluronic acid, a silky serum that locks moisture into the skin. Mine is Quench, a huge celeb favorite. Finally, an emollient—seal the serum and hydration in with your favorite moisturizer. Done!
