Why are you part of The Women's Conference this year?
I am participating in the Women's Conference this year because I missed it last year, and I'll do anything Maria Shriver is committed to. She's a woman of purpose, change, and pure service to humanity. To be able to lend my name, share experiences, and tell my story to move others is part of what I do to give back to other young women.

With this year's conference theme "Remarkable Lives. Remarkable Legacies. What's Yours?" ... what do you hope your legacy will be?
My life has been a true lesson of perseverance. And my legacy is of a survivor. The proudest moments for me are when young women approach me and say they've used my experiences and how I've handled them as a tool to succeed in their lives.

Which woman in your life has made the biggest impression and why?
The woman who has made the biggest impression in my life and frankly the only one I really want to please is my mother. She's intelligent, strong, courageous, and outspoken and always looks for the humor in nearly every situation.
Education is key and doing your best is always expected. She's a woman with high standards but will allow you to discover and find the tools to achieve whatever you strive for.

When do you feel most empowered?
I feel most empowered when I speak my truth, be it acting onstage in a role I love, guiding my kids when they truly want to listen, or sharing my life's experience when asked.

Who are you most excited to see and/or meet at the conference this year?
The women I most admire in the industry are the ones who created the spirited roles on Broadway. I just sang at a benefit with Chita Rivera and Shirley MacLaine. Carol Burnett came by to see the show, and the young guard like Kristin Chenoweth, Jennifer Hudson, and Anika Noni Rose were there as well. To realize all of the legendary roles they collectively created that have made such an impact is mind-blowing. I've even had the pleasure of playing the daughter of Diahann Carroll and Earth Kitt—legendary divas no one can replace.
