What inspired you to use color? I can't even imagine being the type of person who is afraid to use color. I've painted almost every home I've lived in as an adult (around 20 homes over the last 12 years!), whether I had permission from the landlord or not. I'm willing to risk a security deposit to make my home the way I want it... Color Tip: Each time I move into a new place I spend some time there before I move anything in, just sitting on the floor and looking around, watching the light, noting the colors of the wood on the floor, thinking about the mood I hope to create in my new home, and just feeling out the energy of the space. Maybe it sounds kind of woo-woo, but eventually the perfect color always comes to me.

What inspired you to use color? I live in Michigan where it is very dark and dreary for a good portion of the year. How depressing! So I guess you can say that those bright colors are my Prozac. And. . .paint's cheap and I'm not a rich lady!
Color Tip: A little planning goes a long way. My friend and I planned the basic color scheme together before any paint was purchased. Thank you for taking the time to look at my house! :-D
Colors Used: Dining Room - Celdon Pottery from Valspar Living Room - Linen from Valspar Kitchen - Apple 4 from Valspar Hall - Dill from Valspar

This weekend, partially because of the drizzly weather, we spent a lot of time at home: napping, baking, reading, prepping a project we meant to get to all summer. Now that we've cured our home, we find we often prefer being at home and having friends come to us, to going out...
It's easy to spend time at home when everything we need is at our fingertips. Our kitchen is clean, with a full refrigerator, our couches are good for sitting and for napping, with comfortable cushions for our head, enough room to stretch out on, and throws to cuddle under. Our bathroom's clean and we've even got some bubble bath in case the mood strikes. If you'd like to spend more time at home (or just have the time you spend there be more enjoyable), join us in the Fall Cure!

What inspired you to use color? I truly believe that color is the spice of life! Just as I wouldnt dream of eating bland food I would not want to live in a bland colorless space. Color evokes such emotion in me. I am a happy person and I love happy bright colors. My moods change and inspire me to buy different pieces of artwork, accessories, floor coverings etc. and with each subtle change I feel refreshed and renewed. Color is just plain fun to play with It makes me feel just as creative now as I did in kindergarten with my big box of Crayola crayons, only now I live in my creations.
Color Tip: My favorite tip that I share with friends is to keep your wall color and main furniture pieces (sofas, chairs, ottomans) in a neutral color palette. That way you can easily change your accessories (pillows, throws, artwork, window treatments) to suit your mood or the season. Coming from the Midwest and now living in California, I miss the change of seasons. Southern California barely has two seasons but I redecorate in a minimal way for Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. I go for cool colors in the Spring/Summer (aqua blues, apple greens, silver). For Fall/Winter I love to use warm oranges and reds for a cozier feel.
