Sheila Stotts Hairbrush Line Is Amazing!
By: EBeauty Daily    2 days 3 hours 1 minutes ago
Channel: Beauty

One of the many (many) things you can say about me is that I am a hairbrush snob.  I have really thick coarse hair, but am tenderheaded as all get out.  I have tried every kind of brush that I can get my hands on in the stores, from natural boar brush (won’t get through my hair) to wire brushes (ouch) to those plastic brushes.  And vent brushes, wide toothed combs - you name it, I have tried it.

So, one of the fabulous perks of my job is that I find out about things that I would never, ever know about stuck here in little ol’ College Station (don’t get me wrong, I love it here).  This time it is Sheila Stott’s line of hair brushes.  Each one I tried were so unusual, and I love all of them in their own way.  These brushes are not cheap in any sense of the word.  The body of the brushes are all made of fine woods and the bristles are top of the line, whether natural or not.  They are an investment and will last you a lifetime, I would imagine.

First off is the natural boar bristle paddle brush ($90).  I was afraid it was going to cave under the thickness of my hair, but it doesn’t.  It really gets through.  Natural bristles are my favorite, because they do an incredible job of distributing the natural oils through my hair.  This is SO GOOD for your hair - nothing like natural conditioner!  I wash my hair about twice a week, so can really reap the benefits of a natural brush.  I adore this brush!

Second is the natural bristle oval brush ($70).  This is different from other round brushes out there because it isn’t really round.  It is more of an oval.  I can’t really explain what makes it so much better other than to say that your longer hair will not get twisted around it while blowdrying like it can so easily in a round brush.  Another amazing brush - but if your hair is shorter than about shoulder length, this brush will be too large for you probably.

Third is hands down, THE coolest brush I have ever seen, much less used.  This is the flat iron brush ($35), and as you can see above, it looks like a flat iron.  This brush is designed to give you a flat ironed look with only a hairdryer.  It is also worth saying here that Sheila is best noted for her hair extension work, and bonded hair extensions cannot tolerate the heat of a flat iron, necessitating this brush.  But, this is an amazing brush for anyone who wants to take that damaging flat iron step out of their routine.  The natural boar bristles go right into my thick hair and work BEAUTIFULLY.  Love this brush too (are you seeing a patten here).

The fourth brush, while my least favorite of the brushes, is really a great brush too.  This is a wire paddle brush ($38), which is really designed to brush hair without pulling out extensions.  I generally am not a fan of wire brushes due to my tender head, but this one really doesn’t hurt at all, in fact it feels pretty good - there is great cushioning and the wires are thin and flexible.  I keep it in the shower to distribute conditioner mostly.

I would love to know your favorite hairbrush brands - and let me know if you try some of these brushes - I really think you will love them!

cew-winner I am mega late on this this year, but I didn’t want too much more time to go by without talking about the 2008 CEW Beauty Awards winners.  These are chosen by executives in the beauty business - editors, owners and every other type of professional you can think of in the biz.  You can be guaranteed that these products are going to be the tops in their categories - and definitely worth a try.  Mass means you can buy the products (mass market) in the drugstores, prestige means that they are available at specialty/department stores and well, they cost more.  Prestigious, you know.

Lindsay Lohan Leggings - Uh
By: EBeauty Daily    3 days 16 hours 2 minutes ago
Channel: Beauty

lindsay-lohan-leggins_nc

Mercy.  Let me count the ways this is wrong.

1.  I hate leggings.  No, I really don’t always hate leggings, I hate leggings when worn as regular old pants though.  Yuck.

2.  I hate metallic leggings.  Yes, I do.  Leggings should only come in black,  period.

3.  What’s worse than leggings?  Stirrup pants.  Yup, worse.  Much worse.

4.  Lindsay, how old are you?  You look 45, rode hard and hung up wet.

So, will you be running out to buy some of Lindsay Lohan’s new leggings?

Woo man, do I have some catching up to do!

Woman holding wine glass in bath

I hope all you moms had a wonderful Mother’s Day - apparently I took off big for my Mothers Day.  I connived my way into a new Blackberry (with a camera - finally! - w00t), and went to an incredibly nice dinner at Eccel Steakhouse here in College Station with the hubbity hub, Mom and the kiddos.  Dinner was incredibly good, and incredibly pricey, but I had leftovers today, and still have more for lunch tomorrow.  Good eats!  Man, I love a good steak better than just about anything else!

We have a couple of giveaways going on in the channel, so I wanted to be sure and let you in on those:

Ellen at SpaBeautifully is giving away a Qtica Lemon Dream set of luxury body treatments - the contest ends Wednesday, so hurry on over there and enter!

Kim at IndieStyleFile has a contest running until May 23rd to win a super fun boombox necklace from Zlanarama!

Zoom on over and get yourself into these contests, and I am going to zoom and work on some more writing, that which I have been woefully hiding from for days.  Good luck!
