(www.livelywomen.com) — At 8:00 ET tonight, when Stand Up to Cancer begins, head over to Pink Ribbon Review and have a real-time conversation with host and breast cancer survivor Karen Lynch about the event. She’ll have live coverage and commentary about the event — and you can add your two cents, too!
Her “live” blog will be displayed in a viewer window on the main Pink Ribbon Review website (thanks to software provided by CoveritLive). It’s like instant messaging — except you don’t need a user name or password — and you can watch the conversation, view photos, send in comments, or participate in polls. There’s no downloading … just have her website loaded at 8:00 EST and watch the magic unfold.

(www.livelywomen.com) — Well if that isn’t a memorable post title, I don’t know what is!
With my dog needing surgery, my husband out of town for work last week, and business keeping me, well, busy, I totally lost track of the fact that I have two prizes that need winners already!!! So sorry, guys. Thanks for your patients. But maybe next time don’t be so patient — ping me if I vanish. The other contest entrants will thank you!
Fertility Scope — What Does Having a Baby Mean to You?
There were some beautiful and poignant entries for the random drawing to win a Fertility Scope, but unfortunately there can be only one winner because I have only one prize. Here are the first 5 numbers of the random sequence from Random.org:
# 18 # 11 # 16 # 3 # 8
Ordinarily, I skip over ineligible entries (trackbacks, me, people who didn’t follow the instructions) to get to the first eligible comment, but this time the first number was also an eligible entry! The winner is…

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a year, and found out I was pregnant in April almost a year to the day when we started trying. Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage in mid-June, over Fathers Day weekend, which was doubly difficult because my dad died unexpectedly in January and this was my first Fathers Day without him. It made me sad that he would never get to know his grandchildren, so when I lost this baby my one consolation was the belief that our baby is with our loved ones whove gone on before us, including my dad. My baby was probably the best Fathers Day gift I could give my dad. It was truly bittersweet.
This baby will always be remembered, but we would love to have children that we can know here on earth. As difficult as it was to lose this baby, I count it a blessing to have even been pregnant.
As for what having a baby means to us? It means unmatched love, a joyful lack of sleep, a gift from God, more dirty diapers than we care to think of but a miracle nonetheless. A miracle and a gift that we will cherish forever.
Congratulations, Julia. I’m so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I wish you all the best.
Euphemism for Prostitute
This was a tricky contest, because it’s not random at all. I got to pick my favorite euphemism for "prostitute," a competition inspired by Health and Men’s post on how "prostitution" is now a dirty word. And man, was it hard! (No puns intended, I swear.)
Here are all of the entries, in the order in which they were received:
- One Who Offers Horizontal Refreshment - Melinda
- Sporty Girl, Soiled Dove, Fallen Angel, Lady of the Night, Working Girl, Two-Bit Ho - Cindi
- Street-side Sexual Distribution Specialist - Scott
- Floozy and Tart - mannequin
- Companion - baldsue
I have to confess, I was torn between "One Who Offers Horizontal Refreshment" and "Street-side Sexual Distribution Specialist." I feel a little conflicted with my choice, but I have to pick my favorite, and it came down to which one made me laugh harder. Scott wins with "Street-side Sexual Distribution Specialist," which made me choke on my cereal when I read it.
Great job to all the entrants. Scott, I’ll have a special prize package in the mail to you next week.

(www.livelywomen.com) — I used to be a 3-drinks-a-week kind of gal, but lately, I’ve been finding myself drinking a glass of wine or two, or a cocktail or two, or a beer or two, every night. I suspect that for most people, that ain’t much. But for me, it’s a lot. And I’m starting to wonder, Am I drinking too much?
What do you think? How much alcohol is too much alcohol? I’m not talking about "when you can’t walk anymore, stop drinking" overconsumption, but rather the overconsumption we may have been conditioned to. Is a drink a day okay? Two? Three? Four? Where do you draw the line?
